Back in November I was asked by Washington Wedding Day to make a few bouquets for their Spring Summer shoot they were doing at the Graduate Hotel. Here was the inspiration for their shoot. I immediately loved the high fashion look with monochromatic flowers and botanicals in the case of the hellebore bouquet and all parrot tulip bouquet. Green and white is a classic combo that can be melded into so many styles. The tulip bouquet was a fun one I added and was not mad about it. It was an inspiration from the one and only passion flower Sue, who is a fellow educator and flower friend (we graduated IMF together). She is currently doing some really cool stuff in the flower world. And I commend her for always experimenting.

Let’s chat about the tulip bouquet. Is it something for everyone? NO. In fact, this bouquet would probably have a very short shelf life and would not be recommended at all for the hot summer months when tulips are more out of season. This is a fully wired bouquet. Meaning it is not in water. It is bound to last for the moment of the event, and that’s about it. Completely a statement bouquet. Same with the bouquet that won Best Of (best bouquet) for Washington Wedding Day 2025. Flowers are not meant to last forever. They’re beautiful and fleeting. This is what often makes them so special. What would pricing for this bouquet look like? Well, done with tulips, I would price this bouquet in the $300-$350 range. The editors/shoot coordinators were wonderfully surprised with this one, since it wasn’t really what they asked for, but I think it was what they needed creatively. Bold and different.

On to the hellebore bouquet. AKA lenten rose. Seasonal for sure. This is a bouquet we could do with imports from Holland, but locally, we don’t usually see hellebores until winter and possibly early spring. They love the cold and can droop easily if left out of water or if they become too warm. Pricing for this beauty would be $275-$325, depending on the variety and whether they would be available locally or not.

Graceful mention on the modern style bouquet featuring callas, white Phalaenopsis orchids, nerines, peonies, and a stem of my starry sky begonia. It was in a few shots. But this bouquet was one that I wanted to keep the green and white, but playfully extend the nerines and peonies for a more modern feel. The folded aspidistra at the base was clean and modern, and helped cover up the area above the ribbon. This bouquet would be in the $300-$325 range. This is definitely a less-is-more bouquet featuring some all-star premium flowers.
